LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A local youth football team has a lot to celebrate after winning a national title.
The Louisville Chargers traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to participate in the 10 and under Youth National Championship.
Head football coach Julian Brown said his group of 22 kids all ages 10 and 11-years-old have worked tirelessly all year to get the gold.
Brown says they made crowdfunding accounts and other campaigns to cover the costs of plane tickets, hotels, transportation and meals.
Last year, the team made it to nationals but fell short. Brown said the used that loss as motivation for this year.

“Yesterday, they came out and they remembered everything, and they rebounded from last year,” he said.
The Chargers took on Falcons United of Atlanta, Georgia in a close match Saturday night and defeated them 8-6 to capture the 10U Youth National Championship title.
As for the trophy, Brown said it was too big to take on the plane, joking they didn’t buy a plane ticket it for it – so it’s on its way back by car.
It should arrive Monday morning in time to greet the team at 3 p.m. at Louisville Muhmmad Ali International Airport as they arrive back home.
