There were a few showers that rolled across Western KY this morning, but we’re expecting another dose of rain to impact the rest of the state later this afternoon & evening. It will be affiliated with a weak area of low pressure & a cold front that’ll clip our area later today. Light showers are expected as it slides by, and most areas will not get more than .25″ of rain. Ahead of it, mainly cloudy skies are expected with temps hovering around 50° (Western KY will have more sunshine…so, Mid-Upper 50s are expected). Tonight, the showers move out but clouds sit stubbornly over most of the state…lingering into Wednesday morning. There could be some areas of fog or just pesky low clouds that stay all Wednesday morning for many areas, but we’re expecting the clouds to give way to a clearing sky by early afternoon for most cities. Highs for Wednesday should reach the low-mid 50s (near 60° for Western KY).
Expect highs around 60° by Thursday ahead of a stronger cold front that’ll cross early Friday. A few PM showers are possible Thursday, but the best chance for rain will be on Friday as the front crosses the region. Early estimates of 1″ – 2″ of rain will be possible Friday into Saturday morning. Much cooler air will filter in behind the front. Temps will go from around 60° Thursday to Highs only in the 40s on Saturday. Expect a return to “freezing” mornings by Sunday…with lows in the lower 30s.
