Shively hookah lounge owner killed; suspect in custody

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One man was killed and another injured after a shooting at a hookah bar in Shively.

Shively Police said a man in his late twenties was shot and killed outside Retta’s Lounge on S. 7th Street Road at around midnight on Dec. 19.

Investigators said 33- year-old Lance Bowman was being removed from the lounge by security when he shot the business owner in his chest.

Bowman was then shot in the ankle by security. Bowman then took off running across the street and dumped the murder weapon into a garbage can.

Police say it was a blood trail that led them to the discovery of that murder weapon, it was that same blood trail that led them to find the suspect who was hiding a few houses down in neighbors back yard.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released.

Friends and family of the victim showed up to pay their respects at Retta’s Lounge. WHAS11’s Paulina Bucka asked if they wanted to talk about their loved one, but they were too upset to say anything.

Bowman was charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He will be arraigned on December 21 at 9 a.m.
