Get ready for the BEST day of the next several in terms of enjoying outdoor plans or getting outdoor tasks done. Highs will reach the low 70s in many cities with a good amount of sunshine. However, expect increasing clouds for areas near the Ohio River affiliated with an approaching cold front. Rain won’t be an issue with this front as it crosses, but it’ll bring cooler weather in its wake with more cloud cover for Friday. Highs Friday will fall back into the 60s.
Saturday, it will be a soaker for KY due to an area of Low pressure sliding across the state that’s packed with Gulf moisture. Early rainfall estimates will range as high as 2″ – 3″ …locally up to 4″…wow! This rain will definitely be helpful in terms of greatly improving the drought, but flooding will be a concern (especially in areas of poor drainage or low-lying) . Thankfully, widespread severe weather isn’t expected and this system should clear our area by Sunday.
Don’t expect a lot of sunshine between Sunday and Tuesday because it looks like clouds will hold on tight across the region. Then, another cold front is expected to cross our area late Tuesday into Wednesday… exposing our area to Cold Canadian Air. So, if you’re wanting a “Wintry” feel… it looks like you’ll get your wish leading up to Halloween. Stay tuned for updates.
