KENTUCKY – A well-known Kentucky lawmaker is being treated in the intensive care unit at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
House Majority Floor Leader Bam Carney is suffering from a severe case of pancreatitis and other health issues.
His family posted a message on behalf of Carney on Facebook Wednesday night.
He was admitted to the emergency room early Monday morning after falling ill on Sunday.
His family says Carney had to undergo two surgeries.
They say he has been going through dialysis.
Carney has served in the state legislature since 2000.
The 2020 Kentucky General Assembly starts their new session on Tuesday, January 7th.
