A cold front is moving towards our area, but it won’t cross until tomorrow morning. Ahead of it, expect a mild afternoon with above average highs in the Upper 70s (with maybe a few 80 degree temps). Rain is not a factor for most areas today, but rain moves in tonight. For extreme Western KY, spotty showers are possible after 7PM. However, rain is expected to gradually move east as the front moves in…with showers approaching Louisville near Midnight and eventually approaching Lexington around 2AM. Severe weather isn’t likely with this system, but periods of heavy rain are expected with some rumbles of thunder possible. Rainfall estimates will range from .25″ – .50″ (locally more).
Most of the rain moves out by sunrise for areas along and west of I-65. It’ll hold on through late morning Wednesday for areas east of I-65. Regardless, clouds will stick around behind the front, NW winds will be brisk with gusts of 20-25mph, and it will be MUCH cooler. Highs for Wednesday won’t make it out of the 50s; so, expect a 20° drop in temps between this afternoon and Wednesday afternoon. Temps will fall into the upper 30s by Thursday morning with afternoons in the 60s for Thursday and Friday. However, expect lots of sunshine for the end of the workweek courtesy of High Pressure.
As of now, the weekend brings Milder weather with 70s with a chance for spotty showers Sunday. Stay tuned for updates.
