A weak cold front will move into the northern parts of KY today and stall. It will help to trigger very light spotty showers for some areas; otherwise, just expect a cloudy day. Even with the blanket of clouds overhead, temps will still remain unseasonably warm with highs near 60°. The previously mentioned front will move back north as a warm front on Saturday morning, and it will open up the door to even warmer weather. So, expect highs to flirt with 70° for the kick-off to the weekend…and showers will be hard to find.
Sunday, a strong cold front will move across our state by the evening. Ahead of it, expect rain to dominate the day. Moderate to heavy rain can be expected…especially by the afternoon & evening. Rainfall estimates of 1″ – 2″ are possible (with localized areas getting close to 3 “). Flooding is a big concern, and there will be a small risk for possible Flash Flooding. Stay up to date with the forecast.
The front cross Sunday night, and the rain will move out. Colder air will settle in behind it, leading to a chilly (yet seasonable) wrap up to 2019. (As of now, New Year’s Eve night is dry with temps in the 30s … and New Year’s Day brings partly cloudy skies with Mid 40s).
BTW… Expect Windy conditions Sunday afternoon through Monday…. winds could gust up to 30mph.
