A weak cold front will cross the state today. Ahead of it, a southerly wind will keep highs in the 90s…and it’ll be more muggy as dew points climb into the Mid 60s. So, expect heat indices in the Upper 90s to around 101° this afternoon. Both Louisville and Lexington could also tie or break the standing record of 96° for both cities today… we’ll see. Otherwise, isolated showers are possible ahead of the cold front.
In the wake of the front, it’ll be a little cooler tomorrow with highs near 90°. It’ll also be a tad less muggy. Highs will hover around the low 90s Wednesday through Friday affiliated with an upper level ridge of High pressure ( or heat dome). Plus, a SW wind will keep temps near 90° leading into the weekend. A cold front looks to move into our region by Sunday, and showers/storms will be possible…stay tuned.
The 1st day of Autumn will be next Monday, Sept. 23rd… and it may trend cooler as we start the new season. We’ll keep you posted.
