A cold front will cross our state today, and it’ll bring addtional clouds as it moves by along with the chance for a stray shower or two (in some isolated areas) later this afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 80s today with muggy conditions. Yet, the front moves out of our area by tomorrow…and cooler/drier air will move in. Expect the dew points (which indicate the amount of moisture in the air) to go from near 70° today to the mid-upper 50s by Thursday morning…nice! This comfy cozy air will hang around through at least Friday morning; so enjoy it! Highs for Thursday will be a little below the average around 80°…with upper 50s on deck by Friday morning. Friday afternoon the winds return back out of the south, and it warms back closer to average into the upper 80s by the afternoon ahead of another weak cold front.
Behind this 2nd front, expect a nice weekend… with low 80s each afternoon & a mix of clouds and sunshine. Yet, there’s a chance for spotty showers Sunday affiliated with a warm front that’ll lift north. You can probably assume that’ll warm up as we get under the warm front…with highs back to near 90° as we start next week.
**Dorian is picking up speed compared to yesterday, but it remains a hurricane. It’s still just offshore of the FL coast, but it’ll gradually work its way parallel to the SE coastline now through Friday…with a possible landfall across either the SC or NC coast Thursday or Friday. Major impacts are expected for the Carolinas including: storm surge possibly up to 7ft, rainfall estimates possibly up to 1ft in some areas (Flash Flood Threat), and damaging wind potential especially for those coastal areas that get the hurricane force winds.**
