Video shows brazen smoke shop shooting leaving 1 injured

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two men jumped out of a car, carrying rifles, and shooting up a local store. The shooting happened just in the Oakdale community on South 5th and Beecher Streets.

The victim was hit, but still able to return fire to the suspects. The man was transported to University Hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries, police say.

There was talk of two getaway vehicles but witnesses on the scene say a plumbing van was driving by when it all happened and the two men drove off right behind them in a red pick up that you can see in the video. Another neighbor says he heard about 20 shots before running over to the store to help

WHAS11’s Jessie Cohen was on the scene and spoke with multiple neighbors in the area.

“I tried to tell him to keep calm because he was trying to get up and walk and stuff like that. And he was laying in a big pile of glass from where they shot a display out. So I was just trying to keep him calm and check him for any other gunshot and such like that and try to administer first aid keep his vitals going,” one neighbor said.

The LMPD Major Crimes Unit is still investigating at this time.
