It’s been fairly quiet as far as wintry weather across Kentucky and Southern Indiana so far this season, but we are looking at a few legitimate chances of light snow over the next couple of days, especially into Friday morning. With low level moisture lingering behind the departing storm system, some upper level energy and colder air moving in, accumulating light snow is likely for much of the area. Overall totals should be light with around 1 inch or so expected, but given the timing of the snow, expect a negative impact on the Friday morning commute so allow some extra time and watch for slick spots on the roadways. A Winter Weather Advisory is out for much of Kentuckiana until 1 pm Eastern time Friday. The rest of the Friday looks cloudy and chilly with highs in the upper 30s. A few flurries can’t be ruled out, but most locations should be dry.

By Saturday, another wave of low pressure will slide through Kentuckiana from the northwest, keeping the chances for some light snow around. With highs expected into the upper 30s and low 40s, some rain could mix in, overall snow totals should be light, and impacts look fairly low. The chilly air won’t last long as the return flow picks up to finish out the weekend Sunday with highs back up around 50 degrees. The active weather pattern will continue with a frontal boundary in the area and a few waves of low pressure riding along it into next week. This should keep things wet from time to time Monday through Wednesday with milder highs back in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees by mid-week.
