Many of us walked outside to a Wintry scene this morning as moderate to heavy snow fell across parts of KY before daybreak. The heavy snow moves east thorughout the day, and accumulating snow should roll out of Eastern KY by Midday. It looks like snowfall estimates will generally range from 1″ – 2″ around Louisville, Lexington, and extreme Northern KY. A dusting can be found around Bowling Green or Hopkinsville, but anywhere from 2″ – 4″ will be possible for areas east of I-75 before it’s all said and done today.
Areas of flurries will be possible through the afternoon, but it’ll generally be quiet with cloudy skies… and highs in the upper 30s. Tonight, quiet for most areas, but the next chance of snow will arrive around daybreak Saturday for areas West of I-65 (by Mid morning for areas east of I-65). This will be a quick moving system, and it’ll bring the potential for a dusting of snow mainly across the Northern half of KY . It’ll be gone by early afternoon, and the rest of your Saturday looks fine. Highs will hover around 40°.
Sunday, that’s the “pick” day of the weekend since we will have sunshine & dry weather. It’ll also be warmer with highs near 50°.
Monday, our next system moves in. This will bring us RAIN as a cold front moves in. Next week looks seasonable with upper 40s.
