Spring officially begins tonight at 11:50PM EDT, and a risk for severe weather bombards the kick-off to the season. A strong storm system will impact our Region now through Friday morning. Expect scattered showers and storms today, but there will also be times of dry weather. A storm may be strong to severe for areas near extreme W. KY today, but the main threat for severe weather will be after Midnight through 9AM on Friday. Damaging wind, Hail, and Isolated tornadoes are all possible….and flash flooding is also a threat. There’s a FLASH FLOOD WATCH in place for a good portion of Northern & Western KY as an additional 1″ -2″ of rain will be possible.
Since the best timing for severe storms won’t be until when many are sleeping, it’s very important that you have MULTIPLE ways of getting severe weather alerts before bed tonight. Thankfully, the worst of the storms move out by Mid-Morning on Friday…but it will remain rather windy with gusts close to 30mph. A cold front won’t cross our area until Friday afternoon; so expect very warm weather ahead of it. Today… Mid 70s … tomorrow Mid 70s, but temps sink into the 30s by Saturday morning behind the front.
Your weekend brings low 50s for highs both days, but a few showers may sneak back into the forecast by Sunday night.
