An area of low pressure will slide across TN today and possibly clip S. KY through early Wednesday. As this happens, expect scattered to numerous showers & storms…starting 1st across extreme Western KY (near Paducah) as early as this morning. Then, rain will shift east as the day goes on. By late afternoon, showers and storms are likely around Louisville… then most likely around Lexington by early evening. Heavy rain and gusty winds can be expected, and there’s a small risk for severe storms…mainly across SSW KY. Rainfall estimates of around 1″ (locally more) are possible for areas closest to the TN Border… less rain (.25″ – .50″) closer to the Ohio River.
The showers will taper-off gradually after Midnight, and the rain ends for most areas by daybreak on Wednesday. From there, skies clear and sunshine is expected for most of your Wednesday.
Don’t expect cooler weather behind this system. Actually, it’ll get warmer as an upper level ridge of High Pressure builds over our region. Highs Today will range from the upper 50s to low 60s. Expect Mid-Upper 60s for Wednesday with Mid 70s by Thursday. Friday and Saturday, temps will flirt with 80 degrees…but storms also return to the forecast (especially on Saturday) affiliated with another Low pressure system. Stay tuned.
