It was good to see some filtered sunshine and milder air returning to Kentucky and Southern Indiana and that will be a prelude of things to come as we finish out the week on Friday. High pressure to our northeast should give up some decent sunshine as our light winds begin to shift toward the south. This should allow afternoon highs to climb back to around 70 degrees, which is just above average for this time of the year. A slow moving, weakening boundary will move into the region heading into the weekend but we aren’t expecting much in the way of rain. Clouds should thicken up a bit through the day on Saturday with the best chance of isolated showers coming late day and into the evening hours. The boundary will stall out just to our east so expect a few clouds around for Sunday. A few sprinkles can’t be ruled out, but most locations should be dry. Afternoon highs should be either side of 70 degrees through the weekend.
Heading into next week, a few waves of energy will slide up from the southwest along the stalled-out boundary, keeping the chances for a few showers and storms around but also bringing in some warmer air. Temperatures should be on the rise with highs into the mid and even upper 70s into the middle part of next week. While no particular day looks like a wash-out, but our best rain and storm chances at the point look to be on Tuesday with just isolated storms again on Wednesday. A cold front looks to sweep through the area late Wednesday, dropping temperatures back a notch with afternoon highs a bit cooler in the mid to upper 60s late next week.
