Quiet weather for the rest of the holiday weekend

The first snow of the season appears likely to start next week.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The day after Thanksgiving…our bellies full, waistlines expanded, guilt overbearing. The good news is our weather today will be decent. Friday morning begins mostly cloudy with temps generally in the middle and upper 40s with cooler temps where clouds are thinner. Clouds fracture this afternoon and temperatures should manage the middle 50s underneath a partly sunny sky and south winds becoming west in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy and dry Friday night with decreasing clouds toward dawn Saturday.

Saturday will be a very nice day. High pressure brings sunny conditions and temperatures around 50 degrees. Sunshine lingers into Sunday but will give way to clouds and approaching rain by Sunday night. Temperatures dip into the 30s Sunday night into Monday.

The forecast gets much more complicated from there. Rain will likely transition to snow as temperatures fall through Monday afternoon. Accumulations are possible, but it’s still difficult to tell how much may fall. It’ll be especially nasty with a breezy northwest wind 15-25 mph. Snow showers should end by Monday night with maybe a few lingering snow showers early Tuesday.

We warm back into the 40s Wednesday onward, but another story system looms in one week’s time…

TODAY: Mostly cloudy and mild. High: 57°. Wind: S->NW 5 mph.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and very chilly. Low: 37°. Wind: NW 5 mph.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny and a touch cooler. High: 53°. Wind: N 5 mph.
