Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse to permanently close in downtown Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse distillery in downtown Louisville is going to permanently close at the end of this year. Jim Beam’s Chicago-based parent company Beam Suntory made the announcement Tuesday.

The Urban Stillhouse opened its doors on Fourth Street Live a little more than five years ago in October 2015, the company said. According to its website, the Urban Stillhouse offered complimentary tastings, a unique build your own bottle of bourbon experience.

Instead of renewing their lease, Beam Suntory said they are going to be focusing on completing “its reimagined visitor experience” in Clermont, Kentucky.

In a statement, Beam Suntory spokesperson Emily York said that they will be maintaining their offices on Fourth Street Live and looking forward to bringing a “new consumer experience to Louisville” at their “iconic homeplace” in Clermont.

On Facebook, Jim Beam posted this message to customers: “Thank you for your years of support and the wonderful memories!”
